Go Fund Yourself
Go fund yourself. No one else is going to. It’s up to you. Go fund yourself.
Every one of us has responsibilities and dreams–things we have to do and things we want to do. Most of these things cost money. They must be funded. Whose job is it to fund these?
Go Fund Me?
We live in a go-fund-me world, a world where everyone wants something, and they want someone else to pay for it. The website, GoFundMe.com, is full of funding requests for the dumbest things, including beer money, vacations, and tattoo removals. These folks have dreams, but they don’t want to work and fund their own dreams; they want others to do it.
Those who aren’t asking strangers to fund their responsibilities and dreams are demanding that their employer or the government fund them. “If my boss would just give me a raise.” “If he would just get elected, then the government will fix my problem.” When will the powers that be fix my problem or fund my goal?
Go Fund Yourself
No one is going to fund your life. No one is going to pay for your responsibilities. No one is going to chip in for your dreams. It’s not the government’s job to solve your financial problems.
My education is my responsibility. No one owes me advanced education. My student loans are my responsibility. No one else should have to pay them. My choices are mine, and I own the outcomes, good and bad.
We’re talking about ownership. Those who take ownership of their lives, of their responsibilities as well as their dreams, have much more satisfaction in life than those who are always seeking someone else to blame and bail them out.
Who takes more pride in their higher education: the one who worked their way through school and earned it, or the one who had someone else pay their way so that they could socialize and “enjoy college life”?
Who finds more personal financial satisfaction: the one who paid off all their debts and is saving steadily toward their goals, or the one who is still making minimum payments on their loans, so they do more shopping, all while hoping their debts will be forgiven?
You have dreams: experiences you want to have and quality things you want to own. You have responsibilities, some of which may be holding you back from those dreams. The reality is that no one else will make those dreams come true for you. It’s time for us to take ownership and fund our own goals.
